Barbados tourism initiatives 'a big success'

The Gourmet Card and VIP Card initiatives launched by the Barbados tourist board are reportedly proving a 'big success'.
Holidaymakers in possession of the Gourmet Card can take advantage of 25% price reductions at selected restaurants around Barbados between April and December this year.
The VIP Card will be valid for the same period and will offer 'buy one get one free' deals on car rental and certain activities on the Caribbean island.
Petra Roach, the tourist board's vice president of marketing in Europe, said that the Gourmet Card initiative had received worldwide interest.
'It has clearly been one of our most successful initiatives yet with applicants from as far away as Canada, Australia, Africa and Brazil registering for the card in addition to the applications coming in from Europe,' she said.
Holidays to the Caribbean may have been popular with music fans earlier this year when the Barbados Jazz Festival was held between 12 and 18 January.
