Sydney airport has announced the launch of a $500m (£240m) investment programme to improve the facilities in its international terminal.
Passengers will benefit from a number of developments in the terminal, including a more extensive food and beverage offering and a wider range of shops.
The airport's operations should also be enhanced by a new outbound baggage handling system, new bag reclaim carousels in the arrivals area, more waiting areas and additional passenger seating.
Russell Balding, chief executive of Sydney airport, said there will be some disruption to travellers while work is taking place but the development will offer long-term benefits.
'The new look terminal will provide new shops, restaurants and waiting areas,' he said. 'This follows feedback from customers that they want more variety, improved product range and dining options as well as comfortable places to wait for their flight.'
