Eurostar expecting 200,000 passengers over Easter

Eurostar is anticipating a 'great spring getaway' over the forthcoming Easter weekend, with up to 200,000 passengers expected to use its services between 9 and 14 April.
The high-speed rail operator revealed that it is expecting busy traffic in both directions, with British travellers heading to France, Belgium, Germany and Holland to enjoy spring weather and European culture.
Tens of thousands of tourists are also expected to travel from the continent to London over the long weekend to take advantage of the strength of the euro against the pound.
Eurostar passengers should benefit from smooth journeys this Easter as the company's services will not be affected by engineering works.
The rail operator said that strong traffic over the spring holiday period backs up the findings of its recent report on demand for travel in 2009, which found that more people are planning to go away this year than in 2008.
More than two thirds (68%) of adults intend to go on holiday this year, according to the research, compared to 65% last year.
