Amsterdam will come to life with cultural activity in June as it once again plays host to the Holland Festival.
This giant celebration of culture and creativity presents some 80 performances across the Dutch capital, which will be seen by around 80,000 people.
Performance halls and concert venues including the Concertgebouw, Oosterpark and the Stadsschouwburg will participate in this year's Holland Festival, which will take place between June 4th and 28th.
There will be plenty of sophistication on offer at events including a Nederlandse Opera production of Carmen at the Het Muziektheater and a celebration of 100 years of the Ballet Russes at the same venue.
Film fans may be interested in a retrospective dedicated to the great director Michelangelo Antonioni at the Westergasfabriek, while music lovers can see a performance by Antony and the Johnsons with the Metropole Orkest.
Another cultural celebration taking place in Amsterdam this year is the Roots Festival, a showcase of world music that will run from June 13th to 20th.
