USA 'still a top choice for Brits'

America is still at the top of the list of British travellers' long-haul destination choices despite the credit crunch and recession, according to the Visit USA Association.
Members of the association reported that they are continuing to see plenty of interest in trips to the US from British consumers this year.
Visit USA also revealed that certain trends are emerging in the way that people are searching for holidays this year, with a high number of general enquiries compared to reservations and an increase in the number of customers biding their time before booking.
Peter Moss, chairman of Visit USA, said: 'Clearly the USA continues to be high on the list of consumers' long-haul holiday options - despite the current economic backdrop.
'The USA has a holiday to suit every taste and budget - which is why UK travellers continue to return there in their millions every year - including 2009.'
Promotions are being launched this year to continue attracting visitors to some of America's most popular holiday destinations, including Las Vegas, New York and Florida.
The California tourist board recently drew travellers' attention to the range of eco-travel options available in cities such as San Francisco and the green initiatives being launched at the state's airports and attractions.
