Emirates offers more connections in Asia

21 Apr 2009

Emirates will offer new options for people travelling in the Middle East and Asia this year when it launches new flights from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jakarta, Indonesia.

The carrier will offer double-daily services to Kuala Lumpur and three extra weekly flights to Jakarta from 1 May.

Both the Middle East and east Asia regions are continuing to show 'healthy growth rates', according to the airline, with recent World Bank forecasts showing a 5.3% increase in the gross domestic product of the far east region this year.

Richard Vaughan of Emirates said the new flights will provide infrastructure to support growing demand for travel in the regions.

'While Malaysia continues to be a leading holiday destination, Indonesia is investing significantly in developing its Mice (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) infrastructure in order to get a slice of the bustling conference market in the far east,' he said.

'We are also noticing a growing outbound tourism market from these countries as Malaysians and Indonesians increasingly embark on overseas holidays.'

Other destinations that travellers can reach with Emirates via its hub in Dubai include Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney and Auckland.
