The King and I to open at Royal Albert Hall
21 Apr 2009
Musical fans will be heading to London in June to see a production of the classic show The King and I at the Royal Albert Hall.
Daniel Dae Kim, one of the stars of the hit television series Lost, will star alongside theatre favourite Maria Friedman in the show, which will run from 12 to 28 June.
The King and I was created by the famous duo Rodgers and Hammerstein and had its debut in New York in 1951, going on to be adapted into a film starring Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner.
It tells the story of a British governess and her relationship with the king of Siam, which develops after she is brought into the royal court to tutor the monarch's children.
The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will provide the music for the forthcoming show at the Albert Hall, accompanying the performers in songs such as Getting to Know You and Shall We Dance.
Rock and roll fans will also be heading to the Royal Albert Hall on June 30th this year to see a gig by Neil Sedaka.
