Head east for the Great Singapore Sale

People who like nothing more than hitting the shops on their holidays will be heading to Singapore later this year for one of the destination's major annual events.
The Great Singapore Sale will be held from 29 May to 26 July this year, bringing a range of discounts and promotions, outdoor performances, makeover sessions and fashion shows to the city-state.
It will be held on Orchard Road, a major retail area in Singapore that will soon host the opening of three brand new shopping malls.
Acting as a precursor to the 2009 Great Singapore Sale will be the Longest Staged Catwalk Collection event, which will be held on the Orchard Road pedestrian mall on 1 May.
A 100-metre catwalk will be set up for the evening fashion show, along which models will show off the latest creations from DKNY, Jimmy Choo, Sonia Rykiel and several other fashion houses.
There are many other locations in Singapore for visitors to satisfy their need for some retail therapy, such as Chinatown, Marina Bay, Kampong Glam and Little India.
