Rugby fans offered extra Six Nations flights

27 Apr 2009

Demand for flights proved so strong during this year's Six Nations rugby competition that bmibaby has already announced plans for special services that it will offer for the 2010 event.

The carrier will operate unique flights from Edinburgh and Cardiff to Dublin and from Edinburgh to Rome to coincide with big matches being held next year.

Some 2,000 extra passengers are expected to make use of the additional routes, which have never before been operated by bmibaby.

Julian Carr, the airline's commercial director, said: 'During the 2009 RBS Six Nations our flights filled up extremely quickly between Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast.

'As a result we have decided to offer additional unique flights during the RBS Six Nations 2010. Fans will now be able to fly from their local airport to see the all important matches.'

Bmibaby arranged a special one-off flight from Manchester to Porto earlier this month for Manchester United fans travelling to see their team play in the Champions League.
