Visit Australia for Vivid Sydney

29 Apr 2009

Visitors to the state of New South Wales in Australia will be offered some unique entertainment this year at the Vivid Sydney festival.

This event, which is reportedly the biggest international music and light festival in the southern hemisphere, will be based in the popular tourist areas of the Sydney Opera House, the Rocks, Circular Quay and the city centre from 26 May to 14 June.

Among the highlights of the festival is Fire Water, which from 12 to 14 June will recreate the devastating fire that sunk the convict ship The Three Bees in 1814, with music, art and food also incorporated into the event.

The Light Walk is also likely to prove popular, providing a walking route that visitors can follow around the centre of Sydney to see a selection of light art sculptures.

Vivid Sydney will also feature the Luminous music festival, a series of shows curated by producer Brian Eno that will be performed at the Sydney Opera House.

Music fans will be offered more entertainment in New South Wales this year when the Darling Harbour Jazz and Blues festival is held from 6 to 8 June.
