Icelandair to resume Glasgow flights

30 Apr 2009

Icelandair will reinstate flights to Reykjavik from Glasgow from 27 August to 8 November this year, the airline has announced.

Services will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, giving people travelling from Scotland the opportunity to take a long weekend break in Iceland.

Customers will also have the option to connect to Icelandair's flights from Reykjavik to destinations in North America including Toronto, New York and Orlando.

Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason, the airline's general manager in the UK and Ireland, said: 'We are pleased to return to Glasgow with these special flights and hope that our customers in Scotland take advantage of visiting Iceland at this exciting time of the year.

'It's a great time to experience Iceland's beautiful autumn colours and catch cool events like the Iceland Airwaves music festival.'

Icelandair recently urged travellers to pay a visit to Iceland over the coming months as the country hosts a number of running events, including the Midnight Run on 23 June and the Reykjavik Marathon on 22 August.
