Sports stars 'ready for action' in Barbados

30 Apr 2009

The Barbados Tourist Authority has revealed that a number of British sporting celebrities are 'ready for action' ahead of this year's Barbados Sports Camp.

Due to be held from 4 to 28 August, the event will include coaching sessions given by former Liverpool and England goalkeeper Ray Clemence and international cricketer Graeme Hick.

Ex-footballers Mark Bright and John Salako will also host coaching sessions on the Caribbean island this summer, along with Barbadian cricketers Desmond Haynes, Joel Garner and Gordon Greenidge.

Petra Roach, vice-president of marketing in Europe for the Barbados Tourism Authority, said: 'We are thrilled to see several of our 2008 coaches back again for 2009 and thank them wholeheartedly for their continued support to this fantastic initiative.'

Held at the 3Ws ground at the University of the West Indies in Bridgetown, the third annual Barbados Sports Camp will give children the opportunity to be coached by international sports stars free of charge.

Adult visitors to Barbados can also indulge their sporting interests by visiting one of the island's golf courses or trying out some watersports.
