New luxury hotel options in Melbourne

14 May 2009

The range of luxury accommodation options on offer in Melbourne has been boosted this year by the development of three properties.

Hilton South Wharf is the latest arrival, opening its doors in the city's expanding waterfront district at the end of April.

The hotel comprises 396 rooms and boasts facilities including a wine and tapas bar and a restaurant led by a Michelin-starred chef.

Earlier this year, Melbourne hosted the opening of InterContinental The Rialto, a heritage hotel that represents the only luxury accommodation option in the city's financial district.

The property, which has a history dating back to 1891, offers 253 rooms including two luxury turret suites.

Grand Hyatt Melbourne will also be offering travellers a new experience this year when it launches an extensive room refurbishment programme, which is scheduled to start in August.

Melbourne is set to boast the biggest hotel in Australia next year when Crown Entertainment opens a new property in the city, which will house Gordon Ramsay's first venture in Australia.
