New York museum launches Lennon exhibition

15 May 2009

A new exhibition exploring a period in the life of John Lennon opened in New York this week.

New York City's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex hosted the launch of John Lennon: The New York City Years on 12 May.

Created by Yoko Ono, the exhibition includes a number of rare and fascinating items that represent the time that Lennon spent living in New York in the 1970s.

Visitors can see some of the singer's well-known fashion statements, photographs, instruments, handwritten lyrics and artwork in the display.

One particular highlight of the exhibition is Lennon's New York City t-shirt, which became a symbol of the former Beatles frontman's time in New York. The garment has never been displayed in public before.

The New York City Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex is home to a number of other exhibits that will interest music fans, including personal mementos of the likes of Madonna, Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones.
