People with a passion for contemporary art will be heading to Frankfurt this summer to visit a brand new exhibition.
The Making of Art will open at the Schirn Kunsthalle on 29 May and run until 30 August.
Rather than simply exhibiting pieces of modern art, this show will look behind the scenes, exploring the triangular relationship between artist, artwork and viewer.
The exhibition explores work by a number of highly influential modern artists including Tracey Emin, Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
On 24 September this year, the Schirn Kunsthalle will launch the exhibition Art for the Millions, which features a selection of more than 100 life-size sculptures created in China in 1965.
Made as a site-specific installation by teachers and students from the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing, the collection is considered one of the most significant works in modern Chinese art history.
Frankfurt's Schirn Kunsthalle was founded in 1986 and since then has hosted more than 180 exhibitions, focusing on everything from Art Nouveau to surrealism.
