Bmi extends agreement with Virgin Atlantic

27 May 2009

Bmi has announced an extension to its codeshare agreement with Virgin Atlantic, with nine new destinations added to the deal.

Routes from London Heathrow to the US destinations of Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, San Francisco, Boston and Miami will now be sold by bmi under the new arrangement.

The deal also covers bmi's growing network of flights to Russia and the Middle East.

Katherine Gershon, the airline's sales and marketing director, said: 'We are delighted to be extending our network through this codeshare deal with Virgin Atlantic, offering our customers an even greater choice of international destinations.

'Bmi customers in the north of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland can now book bmi all the way to the USA.'

Bmi expanded its operations in the Middle East earlier this year with an additional daily non-stop service from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv in Israel.

The carrier also revealed its interest in launching flights to Baghdad, saying that it is 'ready and willing' to begin operations to the Iraqi capital.
