Liverpool legends head to Grenada

5 Jun 2009

The Liverpool FC Legends team will visit the Caribbean island of Grenada this month to help raise money for the Jason Roberts Foundation.

Former footballing greats including John Barnes, Bruce Grobbelaar, Phil Babb and Phil Thompson are in the 12-man squad that will pay a seven-day visit to Grenada from 10 June.

They will play a showpiece match against a Grenada side on 13 June, which is expected to fill the National Football Stadium to capacity.

As part of a week-long series of events, the former players will also attend coaching sessions and a fund-raising cocktail party at the Calabash hotel.

The visit has been arranged to raise money for a foundation set up by Blackburn Rovers striker Jason Roberts, which campaigns to develop sporting initiatives in Grenada and the UK.

Grenada is an island nation located in the south-eastern Caribbean Sea, to the north-west of Trinidad and Tobago and north-east of Venezuela.
