Travellers visiting Barcelona this year will have the opportunity to see an exhibition featuring some of the treasures that were found in Tutankhamun's tomb.

The show opened at the Drassanes Reials, the city's medieval shipyards, on 6 June and will run until 6 September.

It covers 800 square metres and is designed to provide educational information as well as entertainment.

The tomb of Tutankhamun, the most famous of all the pharaohs of ancient Egypt, was discovered by the English archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922, a find that sparked a global surge in interest in the civilisation.

Visitors to the Barcelona exhibition can see Tutankhamun's now-iconic mask, as well as a replica of the pharaoh's sarcophagus and golden jewels that were buried with him.

Some of the objects in the display cannot even be seen together at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Flights to Barcelona are provided by several airlines, including easyJet, British Airways, Flybe and bmibaby.
