Travel guide publisher Lonely Planet will open its first ever concept store at Sydney airport in early July.

The company announced that it had teamed up with Lagardere Services Asia Pacific to develop the store, which is being opened as part of a AU$500m (£243m) redevelopment of the airport's terminal.

Travellers will be able to buy the full range of Lonely Planet guides at the store, as well as digital products, holiday accessories, merchandise and other items.

Howard Ralley, sales and marketing director for the publisher, said: 'Everyone waiting for a flight wants to be inspired or have their attention diverted, so we figured - where better to open the world's first Lonely Planet store showcasing all that we do, from digital services to guidebook content?

'As well as over 500 books, videos and quality travel gear, there'll be i-touch screens to deliver expert information from our authors, plus the ability to print your own custom guidebook from our Pick & Mix chapters.'

People travelling in Australasia can make use of a new Fiji guide published by Lonely Planet earlier this year as well as the company's first book dedicated to New Zealand's South Island.
