Premier League fixtures released

Football fans can start planning their trips around the UK to see Premier League football over the summer following the release of the 2008-09 fixture list.

Reigning champions Manchester United will begin the defence of their title against Birmingham City at Old Trafford on 15 August.

The next home game for the champions will be one of the stand-out fixtures of the season, with the Red Devils set to take on their bitter rivals Arsenal on the weekend of 29 August.

People visiting London on the first weekend of the Premier League season will be able to see Chelsea face Hull City at Stamford Bridge, while Tottenham Hotspur will host Liverpool in one of the biggest opening matches.

Key fixtures in the 2008-09 league campaign will include Liverpool's clash with Manchester United at Anfield on 24 October and Arsenal's home match against Chelsea on 28 November.

Fans of Spanish football will also have plenty of opportunities for travel when the Primera Liga season gets underway in August, when Real Madrid will be bidding to win back the title from new champions Barcelona.
