Travellers visiting the state of Queensland in Australia this year will have the chance to experience the first ever Festival of the Walks.

This event will be held at various locations around Queensland from 29 August to 13 September.

It has been organised to encourage visitors to take full advantage of the variety of walks, parks and attractions found in the scenic Blackall Ranges.

Travellers can follow walking trails in destinations such as Montville, Maleny, Mapleton and Kenilworth, which range from 20-minute strolls to all-day hikes, offering something for people of all ages and abilities.

The routes, which can be downloaded from the official Festival of the Walks website, have been planned to take in the waterfalls, rainforest, palm groves and other natural wonders that feature in the Blackall Ranges.

Holidaymakers can also catch flights to Brisbane to visit Queensland's many other sights and attractions, such as the Gold Coast and the Barakula State Forest.
