China exhibition to open in Madrid
23 Jun 2009
Travellers visiting Spain this summer will be able to head to Casa Asia in Madrid to explore a new exhibition due to open this week.
China: Portrait of a Country will open on 26 June and run until 31 October.
The photographic exhibition brings together a selection of images that offer a representation of China from 1949 to 2008, a period that saw great change and social upheaval in the country.
Owing to their rarity and cultural significance, many of the photographs in the exhibition can be considered valuable symbols of 20th century history.
To support the main display, Casa Asia will screen the film trilogy China: A Century of Revolution, a series that has never been shown in Spain before.
Madrid visitors will find the cultural centre on Palacio de Miraflores.
There is also a Casa Asia institution in Barcelona, which until 30 September this year will host an exhibition of work by ten Indian artists.
