New York Restaurant Week will be extended this summer, running for three weeks rather than the usual two, marketing and tourism organisation NYC & Company announced.
The initiative - which offers three-course prix-fixe lunches for $24.07 (£14.80) and dinners for $35 (£21.50) at hundreds of restaurants across New York - will run from 12 to 31 July.
NYC & Company made the announcement on the increasingly popular blogging website Twitter.
The firm plans to continue using Twitter to inform the public of special offers, last-minute opening for reservations, surprise chef appearances and more.
Angela Tribelli, a spokeswoman for the marketing company, said: 'NYC & Company is excited to be able to take advantage of its growing Twitter presence to reach NYC Restaurant Week fans in a new way.
'By giving avid diners access to insider information and exclusive booking information, we plan to grow our online audience while providing them with real value during NYC Restaurant Week Summer 2009 and beyond.'
People planning to visit New York next month can look on the city's official tourism website for a complete list of participating restaurants and to make bookings.
