Travellers catching flights with members of the Skyteam airline alliance can now use free internet services at the group's lounge at Heathrow Terminal 4.
BT Openzone, the telecoms company's wireless internet subsidiary, reached a three-year deal with Skyteam to provide a Wi-Fi network at the lounge.
Passengers can browse the web prior to their flight and also use a cheap VoIP service to make voice calls over the internet.
BT Openzone general manager Chris Bruce said: 'Wi-Fi is essential for business and leisure travellers wanting to be productive or relax online before their flights.'
Skyteam opened the first level of its co-branded lounge at London Heathrow earlier this month, providing passengers with amenities including a wine bar, full-body massage chairs, showers and a wellness centre.
The alliance counts a number of major carriers among its members - including
Air France,
KLM,
Alitalia and
Continental Airlines - which offer an extensive network of international flights from London Heathrow.
