Emirates reaches passenger milestone at Newcastle

Emirates welcomed the 250,000th passenger to have travelled on its flights to Dubai from Newcastle airport yesterday (25 June).
The milestone customer was Peter Roeves from Sunderland, who was travelling to Dubai and on to Perth, Australia to visit family.
Mr Roeves said that the introduction of the Emirates flights from Newcastle to Dubai made his journey to Australia much easier, removing the need to travel via London.
The airline launched the service in September 2007, offering access to Dubai as well as popular onward destinations such as Bangkok, Mauritius and Kuala Lumpur.
Lauri Berryman, Emirates manager for UK north, said: 'A quarter of a million passengers in less than two years is a significant achievement.
'We are delighted and grateful for the support we have received from passengers and cargo shippers from across the region.'
Earlier this month, Emirates announced a range of special economy fares for its customers travelling from Newcastle that include a confirmed upgrade to business class.
