Canadian rail journey named the best in the world

The Rocky Mountaineer rail journey in Canada has been named the best train experience in the world.
Following a survey of members of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), the Rocky Mountaineer was voted the world's best train ride, while the Whistler Mountaineer took eighth place.
The two journeys offer passengers the opportunity to see some of the finest scenery that western Canada and British Columbia have to offer.
Randy Powell, president of Rocky Mountaineer, said: 'It is truly an honour for our Rocky Mountaineer train to be recognised and singled out as the best in the world by SATW, a prestigious organisation with members who are highly respected for providing expert travel advice.
'Having both of our trains selected in the "top 10" is an amazing acknowledgement and gives us further indication that we are providing our guests with premier travel experiences.'
The Rocky Mountaineer company offers four rail routes through the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
Travellers can also choose journeys that take in destinations in eastern Canada, such as Toronto and Montreal.
