Summer sales underway in Barcelona

Holidaymakers visiting Barcelona over the coming months will be able to pick up some big discounts following the recent launch of the city's summer sales.
The sale season began on 1 July and will continue until 31 August.
Visitors will be offered discounts of between 50% and 70% on various consumer products, according to the city council.
This year's sale is expected to be particularly popular as businesses will have more stock to sell following poor weather and the difficult economic conditions during the spring.
Products that are set to prove popular include footwear, clothing and holiday equipment.
As well as hitting the shops, people visiting Barcelona this summer can head to its beaches, another aspect of the city's tourism industry that was recently promoted by the council.
Holidaymakers who visit seafront locations around the Catalan capital can hire books and other reading materials, take part in workshops or play sports.
