Travellers planning a visit to Los Angeles later this year may have the opportunity to see an unusual sight in the city.

The 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall will be celebrated in downtown Los Angeles with the Wall Project.

A temporary wall will be installed across Wilshire Boulevard on 8 November for approximately four hours leading up to rush hour.

During this time, the Wende Museum and Archive of the Cold War - which is working on the Wall Project in conjunction with the City of Los Angeles and the German Embassy in Washington - will host live music, video presentations and other activities.

The event will come to an end with a re-enactment of the fall of the Berlin Wall, with dignitaries helping to destroy parts of the installation on Wilshire Boulevard.

Travellers can visit the Wende Museum on Buckingham Parkway in Culver City to see what other exhibitions and events it is hosting this year.

Flights to Los Angeles are provided by carriers including United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and American Airlines.
