People with a passion for jazz and other contemporary art forms should be sure to pay a visit to the Centre of Contemporary Culture in Barcelona (CCCB) this year.

Until 18 October, the cultural institute will host an exhibition exploring the importance of jazz in the 20th century and the influence it had on other thriving creative forms such as cinema and painting.

One of the main themes of the exhibition will be the inspiration that experimental modern artists such as Piet Mondrian, Man Ray and Francis Picabia took from jazz and everything associated with its vibrant culture.

Visitors will also be shown how the jazz music scene developed its own artistic style and aesthetics through its concert programmes, album covers and other promotional material.

The CCCB, which is one of many cultural centres in Barcelona, is located on Carrer Montalegre in the Ciutat Vella district.

Travellers can catch direct flights to Barcelona with easyJet, Iberia, British Airways and other carriers.
