Tickets for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix in September are 'selling like hot cakes', the city-state's tourist board has revealed.
Single-day tickets for Sunday, 27 September, the day of the race, have already sold out, while three-day passes covering the entire weekend are seeing strong demand.
A number of events are being held in Singapore at the same time as the grand prix, such as the inaugural F1 Rocks festival, which will run from 24 to 26 September.
Based in Fort Canning Park, this event will attract some of the biggest acts in pop and rock music to Singapore, including Beyonce, The Black Eyed Peas, NERD and Simple Minds.
Asia on the Edge, a multi-disciplinary festival celebrating Asian culture, will be held from 18 to 27 September.
Singapore Tourism Board representative Divya Panickar said: 'Ticket sales to attend our 2009 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix are robust and interest in Singapore is very strong.
'The city's appeal as a great destination in its own right is heightened by its increasing attractiveness as a venue for hosting such premium international sporting and entertainment events.'
Singapore's grand prix will be the 14th race in the Formula 1 season and will be followed by events in Suzuka, Sao Paulo and Abu Dhabi.
