Brits 'not easily deterred from holidays'
28 Aug 2009

British people are not easily deterred from holidays that, for many people, are the highlight of the year, according to the Travel Magazine.

Commenting on the possible effects of the swine flu outbreak on travel patterns, Sharron Livingston, editor of the magazine, said that Brits have always shown a willingness to travel despite potentially dangerous situations.

She said that Britons were 'the first back to Bali' after the bombings in 2002 and also returned to Malaysia soon after the outbreak of bird flu.

'It is precisely because of this intrepid instinct that the low-cost airlines [are] able to flourish and why the British are still travelling in the economic downturn,' Ms Livingston commented.

'It comes as no surprise that Brits are not easily deterred from their holiday plans.'

According to a survey carried out by Travelzoo in the UK, Germany, France and Spain, British people are the least concerned about the impact that swine flu will have on their holiday plans.
