One of Orlando's biggest strengths is the value for money that it offers, something that has attracted visitors to the city for many years, according to the local tourist board.

Danielle Courtenay from the Orlando Tourism Bureau said that the holiday destination was 'built on fun and hospitality' and guarantees its visitors a warm welcome.

'If people come, they will be treated so well and we know that with the recession, people are looking for good value,' she said.

'Orlando has always been seen as a good value destination.'

Commenting on the other factors that make Orlando popular with travellers, Ms Courtenay said that guaranteed sunshine and the number of attractions are important.

The UK is Orlando's leading international market, with British travellers visiting the city in Florida for an average of ten to 14 days each year.

Some of North America's leading family attractions are located in Orlando, including Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld and Aquatica.
