Sporting entertainment on offer in Dubai this winter
15 Sep 2009
The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has promoted the range of sporting events that will taking place in the emirate over the winter period.
One of the highlights for sports fans will be the Dubai World Championship golf event, which will provide the climax of the Race to Dubai competition.
The meeting will take place at the recently opened Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, which was designed by Greg Norman, from 19 to 22 November.
Dubai's Rugby Sevens tournament will be held at The Sevens, the city's new permanent rugby stadium, from 3 to 5 December, followed by the Dubai Grand Prix powerboat race from 10 to 12 December.
The destination in the United Arab Emirates will also be boosting its appeal to travellers over the coming months with the opening of the Burj Dubai tower, the world's tallest building.
Ian Scott, UK and Ireland director of the DTCM, said: 'Dubai offers the ultimate winter holiday experience, with magnificent weather and something to offer everyone, whether it's sports, shopping, iconic developments or just some good old fun in the sun.
'And with new developments such as the opening of the Burj Dubai tower, the Earth golf course and Meydan horse racing complex, the emirate continues to defy expectations despite the economic climate.'
