Travellers planning a trip to Dubai have been urged to pay a visit to the destination's shopping centres.

Dubai's malls featured in a list published in the Daily Mail of the six experiences that should not be missed in the emirate.

At Dubai Mall, which is officially the world's largest shopping centre, visitors can explore the Sega Republic indoor theme park and look out for attractions including the indoor waterfall and aquarium.

Other shopping options in the city include the Mall of the Emirates and the souks along both banks of the creek in Bur Dubai, which sell everything from perfume to electronic goods.

Another activity recommended by Daily Mail writer Gareth Huw Davies is a ride on the recently opened Dubai Metro, which is the only public transport system of its kind in the Middle East.

The travel journalist also highlighted the Atlantis resort on the Palm Jumeirah island, which is linked to the mainland by a three-mile monorail and encompasses attractions including the Aquaventure water park.
