New Orleans to boast new tourist attractions
29 Sep 2009

The US city of New Orleans will boost its appeal to tourists this autumn with the opening of a number of major attractions.

One of the highlights for visitors will be the Disney exhibition Dreams Come True opening on 15 November at the New Orleans Museum of Art, which will be the only North American venue for the show.

More than 600 original creations from the Disney studio feature in the display, including artwork from the films Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

New Orleans' National World War II Museum will launch three new attractions on 6 November: the 250-seat Victory Theater, the Stage Door Canteen entertainment venue and the American Sector restaurant.

People with a passion for stage entertainment can head to the city's Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts later this year as it presents a programme of Broadway shows.

The series will begin with Cats on 27 October, with Mamma Mia!, Wicked and Avenue Q also being performed before the initiative comes to an end in June 2010.

Travellers looking for accommodation in New Orleans can stay in the Roosevelt Hotel, which reopened earlier this year following a major renovation.
