Travellers looking for some festive fun over the coming months will be able to attend a number of events in the province of Quebec in Canada.

The city of Montreal will be one of the main centres of celebration, hosting events including Xmas Fairies in December, a month of activities in the old town dedicated solely to Christmas.

On 21 November, downtown Montreal will host the Santa Claus Parade, which combines a traditional procession with theatre, live music and all sorts of fantastical characters.

Travellers planning to visit Ottawa and the surrounding region can head to Gatineau on 27 November for another parade or visit Confederation Boulevard to see a display of nearly 300,000 Christmas lights.

Quebec City will also be joining in with the festivities, hosting a toy parade on 29 November that will feature entertainment, games, workshops and shows.

The house of Francois-Xavier Garneau, Canada's national historian, will be decorated during the festive season with an antique Christmas tree and a nativity scene.
