Sydney chefs promote city's cuisine
30 Sep 2009
The government of New South Wales and some of the leading chefs in Sydney have teamed up to promote the city's cuisine.
Tourism minister Jodi McKay announced the new partnership, which has the goal of making Sydney the premier restaurant and fine dining destination in Australia.
Chefs from restaurants including Quay, Marque, Otto Ristorante and Sean's Kitchen have agreed to take part in the initiative.
All of the eateries represented were recently included in a list of the country's top 100 restaurants published by Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine.
Ms McKay said: 'This partnership will strengthen Sydney's position as Australia's top dining and tourist destination both locally and on the international stage.
'Sydney is already recognised as one of the world's most iconic cities and this opportunity will highlight the very best of our dining experiences. It is a great example of industry and government working together and will hopefully tempt more domestic and overseas visitors to our great city.'
The inaugural Crave Sydney festival, which is based around food, the arts and outdoor events, will begin on 1 October.
