'Blockbuster exhibition' to be launched in Brisbane
5 Oct 2009
The Asia Pacific Triennial (APT) will be launched in Brisbane later this year.
Due to run from 5 December until 5 April 2010, the event will be Brisbane's next 'blockbuster art exhibition', according to Tourism Queensland.
The display will be based at the Gallery of Modern Art and the Queensland Art Gallery, as well as the Watermall venue.
This year's exhibition will be the sixth installment in the APT series, which was launched to celebrate the diversity of art in Asia, the Pacific and Australia.
More than 100 artists from 25 countries will take part, including collaborative groups, collectives and representatives of nations that are being included in the initiative for the first time, such as North Korea, Iran, Tibet and Turkey.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy live music and a children's programme designed to entertain younger visitors.
Both the Gallery of Modern Art and the Queensland Art Gallery are located on the south bank of the Brisbane river.
