Amsterdam museum marks 100-day milestone

The Hermitage Amsterdam has celebrated the 100-day anniversary of its opening.
During its first weekend, the museum was open continuously for 31 hours and since then it has welcomed over 360,000 visitors.
Nearly 80% of the tourists who have visited the attraction came to Amsterdam specifically for the museum, with one of every six guests coming from abroad.
The Hermitage Amsterdam opened with At the Russian Court, an exhibition featuring more than 1,800 items borrowed from the State Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg.
Travellers can visit the display until January 31st 2010 for a fascinating insight into life in 19th century Russia.
Art lovers can arrange their trips to Amsterdam soon to see the Pioneers of Modern Art show at the Hermitage, which is due to open on 6 March next year and will feature work by painters including Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse.
There are several cultural and historical attractions to visit in the Dutch capital, such as the Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum.
