Qantas has unveiled a Boeing 747 with a special livery painted in the colours of the Socceroos, Australia's national football team.
The aircraft features the message '
Qantas Socceroos - We're with you all the way'.
Alan Joyce, chief executive of
Qantas, said that the initiative shows the carrier's support for the team ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
He added: 'This aircraft will be flying across Australia and around the globe, showing the support that Australia has for its football team.
'This Boeing 747-400 will carry the team to the World Cup next year and we will be making sure the team arrive in South Africa rested and ready to take on their opponents.'
After spending a week in a
Qantas hangar for the new livery to be applied, the plane will operate a flight from Sydney to Johannesburg today (23 October).
The 2010 World Cup will be played in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and other South African cities from 11 June to 11 July next year.
