Increasing numbers of Brits heading to Las Vegas
29 Oct 2009

Growing numbers of British holidaymakers are heading to Las Vegas as it provides an escape from the pressures of everyday life, the city's tourism authority has claimed.

According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), increasing numbers of Brits with budgets of all sizes are taking flights to the city because of its reputation for value.

World class chefs, entertainment, spas and unparalleled shopping opportunities are all within a 3.5 mile corridor, the organisation explained.

Cathy Tull, senior vice-president of marketing at the LVCVA, said: 'The UK is the number one source of overseas travellers to Las Vegas, and British tourists represent the third largest segment of overall international travel to Las Vegas, just behind Canada and Mexico.'

Further attractions in the form of the USA Sevens Rugby Tournament next February and the Las Vegas Pool Season from April present other reasons for tourists to visit, she added.

British Airways has recently launched its first long haul service from London Heathrow to Las Vegas.
