Travellers planning a trip to Rome over the coming months will be able to help test out a new tourist information service in the city.
A trial of mobile visitor assistants known as 'tourist angels' was launched on 6 November and will continue until 8 January 2010.
The council has employed 16 individuals who will be based at airports, train stations and the city centre to answer tourists' questions and provide useful information.
Visitors will be able to spot the assistants easily, as they will wear bright jumpers with 'ask me' written on the back and will travel around the city on Segways, electronic vehicles that have a top speed of 6km per hour.
The helpers will be able to provide information on taxi tariffs, directions, attractions and other subjects in Italian, English, Spanish, German, Chinese and Japanese.
During the trial, the assistants will patrol the streets of Rome seven days a week, including holidays.
Opodo cheap flights, hotels and car hire - let the journey begin!
