Glasgow, Edinburgh hotels 'performing well this year'

Hotels in Glasgow and Edinburgh proved popular among tourists and travellers in the first nine months of the year, according to new figures.
Deloitte, the business advisory firm, released a study covering the year up to September which showed that the Scottish destinations were the only two cities in Europe to show positive growth in occupancy rates.
Edinburgh posted an overall occupancy level of 76.8%, the second highest in Europe behind London and ahead of Paris.
Commenting on the success that the Scottish cities' hotels have seen this year, a spokeswoman for VisitScotland pointed out that many properties have offered discounts and promotions to attract visitors.
She added: 'The staycation trend, strong events calendars in both cities, along with Homecoming, which has given Scotland a competitive advantage, will also have helped to maintain stable occupancy rates.'
Glasgow and Edinburgh could prove increasingly popular over the coming weeks as both destinations host winter festivals in the run-up to Christmas.
