Holidaymakers visiting Las Vegas next year will have the opportunity to experience a number of new events and attractions in the city.

One of the biggest additions to the destination's tourist offering is the CityCenter Resort, which is described as a 'vertical city' located between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo casinos on the Strip.

The complex will comprise an 18,000-square-foot spa, salon and fitness centre, Las Vegas' first Mandarin Oriental Hotel featuring a Pierre Gagnaire restaurant and a luxury retail and entertainment centre.

Cirque du Soleil will be launching a new Elvis-themed show in the city to mark the 75th anniversary of the rock 'n' roll star's birth on 8 January.

Viva Elvis will be performed at a custom-made theatre at the Aria Resort and Hotel.

Sports fans might be interested in visiting Las Vegas in February next year for the USA Sevens rugby tournament, which will feature teams from all over the world including England, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

British Airways recently launched direct flights to Las Vegas from London Heathrow, while Virgin Atlantic offers a service to the city from Gatwick.
