27 Nov 2009

Travel Alberta has highlighted the various experiences and events on offer in the Canadian province over the coming months.

The agency said that Alberta will become a 'winter wonderland' as it hosts a number of seasonal celebrations, including carol singing, Christmas light displays and ice skating on frozen lakes in the town of Banff.

Skiers can visit a number of resorts in the region, such as Castle Mountain, Nakiska, Lake Louise's Sunshine Village and Mount Norquay.

People who explore some of the northern parts of Alberta might be lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis.

Other adventurous activities on offer in the region include snow-shoe hiking, ice climbing and caving in frozen canyons.

There are several hotels and resorts to be found throughout Alberta that will be offering a range of promotions and discounts during the Christmas and winter period.

Flights to Calgary, the province's biggest city, are provided by carriers including Air Canada, United Airlines, Lufthansa and KLM.
