Qantas to use new A330-200 aircraft
2 Dec 2009

Qantas has announced that it will introduce new Airbus A330-200 aircraft on some of its domestic routes.

The Australian carrier said that the new planes have 36 seats in Business Class and 265 seats in Economy Class.

Highlights of the new aircraft's Business section include a wider seat (22 inches), an extendable leg rest, ergonomic cushioning and an exclusive seat design.

Economy passengers, meanwhile, will enjoy 18-inch wide seats, comfortable cushions and a reclining base.

Alan Joyce, chief executive of Qantas, said that a modern and up-to-date entertainment system would complete the A330-200 experience.

'For the first time Qantas will operate a domestic aircraft featuring state-of-the-art in-seat entertainment for all customers,' he said in a statement.

'The on-demand Panasonic eX2 system has over five hundred entertainment options including movies, TV programs, a CD library, games, a dedicated children's section, plus Qantas Lonely Planet Guides as seen on the A380.'
