LA visitors more likely to take in a musical
7 Dec 2009

Europeans booking flights to Los Angeles (LA) are more likely to see a musical than visitors to other cultural cities, including New York.

This is according to a TNS Plog Research poll, which is a testament to the Californian city's impressive venues such as Hollywood, the Pantages Theater and the Ahmanson Theater, which was recently refurbished.

Los Angeles has a rich theatre background, with its musical scene able to be traced back to the golden age of MGM studio productions, which saw some of the best-loved musicals adapted for the cinema.

Visitors to the city have no shortage of musical entertainment, with actor Jason Alexander having established the Festival of New American Musicals in 2008.

Next year's event will run from April to June and already confirmed on the bill are a number of world premieres, readings and stagings.

On August 1st, Los Angeles opened its very own Madame Tussaud's exhibition, with Beyonce Knowles and Jamie Foxx among the first celebrities to be recreated as a waxwork.
