New Orleans clinches major sporting events

More people are expected to book flights to New Orleans in the near future thanks to the number of sports events taking place in the southern US city.
During the course of this year, a number of sport organisations have committed themselves to New Orleans, with the city due to host Super Bowl XLVII, the 2012 NCAA Men's Final Four, the 2013 NCAA Women's Final Four and the BCS National Championship.
In addition, contract extensions have been secured for a number of major football bowl games, with the city's team, the New Orleans Saints, going from strength to strength.
'The buzz and vitality surrounding the New Orleans Saints are great for the city's brand and generate advertising which we could never afford,' explained Stephen Perry, president and chief executive officer of the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Saints recently secured the National Football Conference South title, guaranteeing them a place in the NFC playoffs.
New Orleans is popular with tourists thanks to its status as a place of cultural exchange among Africans, American Indians and Europeans.
