Miles Davis show open in Paris

Miles Davis show open in Paris
15 Dec 2009

Fans of jazz legend Miles Davis will be able to see an exhibition celebrating the musician during trips to Paris over the coming weeks.

The display covers an area of around 800 square metres and is arranged chronologically.

It offers a thorough representation of Davis's life, from his childhood in St Louis to a retrospective performance that he gave at La Villette in Paris shortly before his death in 1991.

Visitors can see a selection of fascinating items in the show, including a collection of trumpets and other instruments played by Davis and some of his contemporaries, stage costumes and vintage pressings of his records.

The exhibition was arranged with the support of Miles Davis Properties and marks 60 years since the artist's first trip to France.

It also celebrates the 50th anniversary of Kind of Blue, the jazz legend's best-selling album.

The display will be open at the Musee de la Musique in Paris until 17 January next year.
