Air Berlin to carry Christmas trees for free

Air Berlin to carry Christmas trees for free
17 Dec 2009

Air Berlin has announced that it will be offering a festive gift to its passengers this year by allowing them to transport their Christmas trees free of charge.

Travellers will be able to place their tree in the hold of Air Berlin's planes, regardless of where they are flying on the carrier's route network.

Customers can take trees of up to two metres in height until Christmas Eve on the condition that they notify the airline at least 24 hours in advance of travel.

Titus Johnson, the airline's country manager in the UK and Ireland, said: 'Most of the demand for this comes from our German customers - it seems they can't bear to be parted from their trees at Christmas. After all, it was Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, who brought the tradition with him to England in the first place!

'As our present to everyone, we will carry the trees without making a charge. The offer is another example of the great complimentary services you get flying with Air Berlin.'

The airline operates an extensive international network that includes flights to New York, London, Bangkok and Beijing.
